Applying for student aid doesn't have to be complicated. Start by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which determines your eligibility for federal programs (Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, Federal Work Study, etc.) At FAFSA's secure Web site, the process of applying is easier because it leads you through the FAFSA and allows you to safely transmit it over the Internet to the Department of Education. Processing is generally completed 7-14 days faster than if you completed and mailed a paper application.
Simply go to FAFSA on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov or call 1-800-433-3243.
