Hollins Class of 1964 50th Reunion

We look forward to welcoming the Class of 1964!

Below you will find information on the special events just for the class of 1964 during reunion weekend, the Salon 64 creative showcase, and your class website.

Parade of Classes: Wear Pink and Pearls

For the Parade of Classes during Reunion, held the morning of Saturday, May 31, we encourage all '64 classmates to wear pink and pearls!

Salon 64: Share Your Creative Work at Reunion

Perhaps you have written a poem? Or a novel? Or short story? Written a super essay or review? Or designed a garden for a house, maybe even designed the house? How about textile arts? Or visual arts - paintings, prints, pots, etc.? Something tells me that there are, hidden amongst our creative and exceptional classmates, many of us just waiting to be able to tell our great class about their creative and artistic activities since we left Hollins in '64.

For this reason, we are organizing a way to bring your craft and talent to our 50th reunion. We are calling this "Salon 64" (named of course from the French word salon which is not just a living room but was an organization that was the arbiter of taste in France in early days. You may remember that the Impressionists were pretty much snubbed by the Salon, but here, at Hollins, our "Salon 64" assumes that you have wonderful things to share! We are not judging.)

Salon 64 will take place on Friday, May 30, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Hollins' Visual Arts Center. There will be a space where we can get together and share some of our creative work.

  • Visual artists should bring a record of their work on a CD or thumb drive - we will present your work on a screen.
  • Writers and poets and others with written material will have the chance to share material in their own voice.

Please contact Adelaide "A" McKenzie Moss at addymck70@gmail.com or snail mail: 167 Hill Drive NE, Abingdon, VA 24210 or by phone at (276) 628-9006, by April 1, if you are interested in participating in Salon 64.
