Children are welcome participants at reunion. The cost for children ages 6 to 10 is $50 per child and for children 11 to 18 is $75 per child for the entire weekend and includes all meals. Bring your own cribs, sleeping bags, and strollers. Indicate number and ages of all children on the registration form. A referral list of Hollins community members will be provided to all alumnae interested in babysitting services during the reunion weekend for children ages 3 and up. Please check on the registration form if you are interested in a babysitter ($10/hour for each child).
You are invited to sing with the alumnae choir at the Sunday morning memorial service. All are welcome. Please check on the registration form.
Activities during reunion are casual, and informal dress is appropriate. However, Saturday night's dinner on Front Quad is dressier. You may wish to wear closed-toe shoes for Friday’s dinner in the Kirby Riding Ring and bring a sweater for outdoor meals.
Early bird discount if you register by May 17. Reunion fees help defray the cost of a great event and cover such things as: catering; rental of tables, chairs, and linens; flowers; entertainment; special speakers; staffing; class photos; and hospitality rooms. The Parade of Classes and the Alumnae Celebration are complimentary and open to everyone. The a la carte registration fee will be waived for non-alumnae guests attending only one meal. Registrations received after the May 17 early bird deadline will be charged a $25 fee.
Refund requests, less a $25 processing fee, may be made if your reservation is cancelled prior to or on May 17, 2013. Unfortunately, refunds cannot be made after May 17, 2013, as arrangements for your attendance have already been made by the Alumnae Relations office.
Each class will have a hospitality room with a bulletin board. You are encouraged to bring mementos to decorate creatively. An initial supply of cups, ice, soft drinks, and mixers will be provided.
We encourage you to stay on campus; however, if you prefer, there are several hotels nearby. Blocks of rooms will be held for Hollins University at the following locations until May 1:
Country Inn & Suites
7860 Plantation Road
(5 minute drive; I-81, Exit 146)
Fairfield Inn & Suites
7944 Plantation Road
(5 minute drive; I-81, Exit 146)
Sheraton Roanoke Hotel & Conference Center
2801 Hershberger Road
(15 minute drive; I-581, Exit 3W)
Alumnae who wish to stay off campus must make their own arrangements directly with the hotel.
Remember that residence halls are not air-conditioned and there are communal bathrooms. Spouses and children are asked to share bathrooms with alumnae. No triple rooms are available. Hollins provides necessary bed linens, light blankets, and towels. You may want to bring an extra blanket, extra pillow, or a fan; when packing, think camp. Classes are assigned to residence halls on the basis of the number of classmates expected at reunion. Please register before the May 17 deadline to ensure your rooming preferences. If you register late, we cannot guarantee you a room with your class.
When you arrive on campus for reunion, you will pick up your reunion registration packet which will include tickets for all registered meals and events. Remember to bring your tickets with you to each meal. Meals are provided by the Hollins food service staff in Hollins facilities and are informal, with a dressier event on Saturday evening on Front Quad. You may wish to wear closed-toe shoes to the Friday dinner at the Riding Center and a light jacket or sweater for outdoor meals.
Class photographs will be taken immediately following the Saturday morning celebration. A complimentary class photo will be sent to each alumna who attends reunion. Additional reunion weekend photos will be available to view and purchase at the Hollins Online Photo Store website.
Assistance is available for those with special needs for transportation and housing while on campus. Hollins will provide wheelchairs if needed. Please check on registration form and specify need.
Hollins does not provide shuttle service to the airport. Alumnae staying at hotels are encouraged to check with their hotel to see if shuttles are provided. If you rent a car, you may drive up to your dorm to load and unload luggage.
