Golfstat Rankings

Early Thursday morning, March 28, Golfstat released their most up to date NCAA DIII Individual Women's Golf Rankings.  Elizabeth Cheng (Virginia Beach, VA) finds herself ranked sixth in the nation heading into the final regular season tournament of the season.

The Hollins junior has had a stellar season to this point.  Cheng and her teammates have entered seven events this golf season.  Individually, Elizabeth has finished in the top 10 in every event, including three wins, a second and a pair of thirds.

After the fall portion of the schedule in which she didn't finish outside the top three individually, Cheng entered the spring ranked 20th in the nation.  For their first event of the spring, Hollins was entered into the prestigious Jekyll Island Collegiate.  On the back of a second round, one under par 71, Elizabeth finished atop the 120 golfer field during the three day event.  Cheng beat 10 of the top 20 golfers in the nation and for her efforts moved up the Golfstat national rankings.

In an interview for the ODAC early in the fall, Cheng talked about how hard she had worked in the off season in order to put her in a better position to make the NCAA National Tournament, after just missing making the field last season.

Hollins has one tournament remaining, the Methodist University Spring Invitational in mid-April, before competing for the ODAC Women's Golf Championship.  For the first time since its inception, the ODAC is sponsoring women's golf and with the season that she has had, Cheng has been named ODAC Women's Golfer of the Week five times.
