Jim Phillips

Jim Phillips: Head Coach

Jim Phillips joined the Hollins coaching staff in 2008-09 as an assistant coach and began his first season as head coach in 2010-11. Phillips is a graduate of Fairmont State College with a bachelor's degree in education. He has been an educator and coach for the last 20 years in the public school system. For the last 15 years, Phillips had been a member of the Botetourt County community where he has organized and coached several teams to success through high school basketball, middle school basketball, and AAU basketball. He looks forward to helping build the women's basketball program at Hollins University.

Miranda Carrasco

Miranda Carrasco, Assistant Coach

Miranda Carrasco has been named to the position of assistant basketball coach at Hollins for the 2014-15 season. Carrasco comes to Hollins after serving as the head junior varsity girl's basketball coach at William Byrd High School. Carrasco majored in exercise science with a minor in business while graduating cum laude from Ferrum College in 2009. After playing one season at Emory & Henry, Carrasco made the decision to transfer to Ferrum where she eclipsed the 1,000 point mark en route to becoming the 11th leading scorer in school history (1,142). During her collegiate career, the William Byrd graduate excelled not only on the court but also in the classroom. Carrasco was a two-time member of the USA South All Conference Basketball team as well as being named USA South Academic All Conference, Ferrum College Dean's List for three years, and was named VaSID Academic All State in 2008 and 2009.
