ODAC Road Win For Hollins

Roanoke, VA - Hollins University Basketball at Randolph College, January 26, 2013

Box Score

After playing five of their past six games in the comfort of their home gym, the Hollins basketball team went on the road for the first of three consecutive ODAC games away from Roanoke.  The first stop for Hollins was a game against Randolph College, the first of two meetings with the WildCats over the next three weeks.  Hollins went into the match-up looking for the second ODAC win, first on the road.

The game started with Hollins winning the opening tip but it was Randolph that took the first lead of the game, hitting a three pointer.  The first half was about as even a game as you could get with nine lead changes and seven ties.  The WildCats led by as many as three with Hollins largest lead being four points.  When halftime arrived it was Hollins that held the lead, 35-32.  Hollins came out in the second half and gradually built on their lead.  With 10 minutes left to play the road team enjoyed their largest lead of the afternoon, 11 points.  Over the next several minutes of play Randolph started their comeback and with four minutes remaining Hollins held the lead by a single point.  Hollins dug in and never let the WildCats complete the comeback and again stretched out the lead and as the final buzzer sounded, Hollins had it's second ODAC win of the season with a 71-67 victory.

Jasmine Greene (Hampton, VA), the ODAC's leading scorer, poured in a game high 23 points while adding eight rebounds, six assists, and five steals.  Fellow senior guard Lacie Forrest (Richmond, VA) continued her increased scoring of late by recording 18 points, five rebounds, and three assists.  Outside shooter Carrie Cox (Lynch Station, VA) connected on four of her six shots from long range while scoring 12 points.  Chanci Wright (Eden, TX) just missed another double-double when she scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Randolph saw four players score in double digits led by Chelsea Tyler's 14 points.  Allie Druffel added 12 while Emilee Dunton and Brianna Lowry each scored 10.

Hollins will continue its road trip with a visit to Emory & Henry College on Wednesday night.  the game with the Wasps will have a little later start then normal as it will tip after the men's game.  The approximate time of the opening tip will be at 8:00pm.
