Hollins Comes Home With First Win

Playing for the third time in as many days, Hollins traveled to our nation's capital to play Trinity on Saturday afternoon.  It was the first time Hollins had played away from home and Hollins was able to go on the road and pick up their first win of the season, 16-3.  Hollins got out of the gate quickly, scoring four goals in the game's first 10 minutes.  Hollins continued to build the lead and when Trinity finally got on the board, Hollins had built a 7-2 lead.  Two more goals from the road team made it 9-2, Hollins, at the break.  After the two teams traded goals to start the second half, Hollins scored six of the final seven goals en route to their first victory of the season.

Erika LaWall (Cary, NC/Apex) led the Hollins offensive attack with six goals.  Jacqui Sommerman (Dallas, TX/Highland Park) added three goals and two assists while Meg O'Brien (Chattanooga, TN/Baylor School) scored twice.  Five other Hollins players got into the act by record one goal apiece.  Corinne Nicholson (Takoma Park, MD/Northwood) picked up her first college win by recording five saves.

Thamar Polynice scored twice while Macee Wray added a goal for Trinity.

Hollins will be back in action on Tuesday as the host ODAC power Washington & Lee at 4:30pm.  It marks the second of three consecutive ODAC home games against the leagues top three teams in the 2012 ODAC Preseason Pol.  Hollins fell to Roanoke College, picked third, in their home opener and will host Lynchburg College, second, at the end of the month.
