Hollins Back in Action

Roanoke, VA - Hollins University Lacrosse vs Lynchburg College, March 31, 2012

Box Score

After taking a week off for spring break, the Hollins lacrosse team was back in action when they hosted Lynchburg College on Saturday afternoon.  The Hornets came into the match-up with a perfect 3-0 ODAC record.  Hollins struggled early, playing a player down for the entire game, as Lynchburg steadily built an early lead.  Hollins recorded four, first half, saves but couldn't get anything going on the offensive end of the field.  Hollins tightened up the defensive side of the ball and mounted a late offensive barrage on the Hornet net, but it wasn't enough as Lynchburg picked up the 18-1 ODAC victory.

Erika LaWall (Cary, NC/Apex) led Hollins with a goal, five ground balls, three caused turnovers, and a draw control.  Hollins was able to turn the Hornets over 12 times during the afternoon.  Amanda Duffie-Fritz (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) picked up five ground balls while causing a pair of Lynchburg turnovers.  Corrine Nicholson (Tokoma Park, MD/Northwood) got the start in goal and turned away seven Hornet shots.

Lynchburg, playing up a player the entire afternoon, was led by Kendall Adkin and her four goals and three assists.  Sarah Shannon, Julie Will, Carley Dobson, Katie Seidel, and Alyssa Rossi added two goals apiece.  First-year keeper Hailey Bossert went the distance in goal.

Hollins will follow up today's home game with three straight ODAC road contests starting with a trip to Guilford on Wednesday afternoon.
