Jen Adams '06 on Hollins' Oyster Pond
The Hollins Riding Center is located within walking distance of campus. The complex contains 43 large box stalls with rubber mats. The main barn has an overhead fly-control system and a wash rack with hot and cold running water. One large tack room contains saddles and equipment; a second tack room is available for boarders. Students use the comfortable stable lounge to visit with each other, view practice videos, and read riding materials. The facility also includes a fire and theft security system and a place to do horse-related laundry. There are seven spacious pastures and paddocks with white four-board fencing. The university’s late-model truck featuring a 4-Star gooseneck trailer provides safe transport of horses to and from horse shows.
The 220’ x 110’ Kirby indoor ring includes a heated and air-conditioned viewing lounge and a complete sound system. Hollins hosts two open horse shows, two IHSA horse shows, and other in-house shows during the school year.
