Hollins Dominates on the Road

Washington, DC - Hollins University Soccer at Trinity College September 7, 2012

Box Score

After getting rained out against cross-town rival Roanoke College on Wednesday evening, Hollins traveled to Trinity College for a match on Friday afternoon.  Hollins went to our nation's capital in search of their first victory of the young season.

It took Hollins about 15 minutes to find their legs, but when they did they exploded for three goals in a five minute span to seize control of the match.  Morgan Wood (Rocky Mount, VA) started the scoring when she sent a 20 yard shot into the back of the net, scoring her second goal in as many games.  Senior Sara Poole (Blue Ridge, VA) found the net just a minute later when she scored on a pass by fellow senior Alicia Johns (Locust Grove, VA).  Less than five minutes later Maran O'Neill (Bedford, VA) scored the first goal of her Hollins career.  O'Neill scored off a corner kick by Dani Franklin (Chesapeake Beach, MD).  Hollins wasn't done as Wood and O'Neill each added another goal to give the visitors a 5-0 lead going into the break.  In the second half the scoring slowed down with the Hollins defense clamping down their hosts.  With about 10 minutes left in the match, O'Neill finished off Trinity with the hat-trick, scoring her third goal of the game.  Brandi Chesne (Hammond, LA) earned her first shutout ass the Hollins defense limited Trinity to just one shot on goal.

Hollins will shoot for two in a row when they face Notre Dame, MD in Baltimore tomorrow afternoon.
