Hollins Starts 2011 Season with a Win |
Raleigh, NC - Hollins University Soccer vs Peace College September 3, 2011 The Hollins University soccer team opened the 2011 season with a road trip to face Peace College on Saturday afternoon. Hollins jumped out in front quickly, scoring less than four minutes into the match. The Pacers buckled down and kept Hollins off the board the rest of the way but Hollins, behind a 33-1 shot advantage, came away with their first win of the season. Sophomore Becca Logan (Culloden, WV/Hurricane) picked up right were she left off last season by finding the back of the net just four minutes into the 2011 season. Logan was the leading scorer (8) as a first year player last year. The one goal was all that Hollins needed as senior goalkeeper Kristen Norkus (Gainesville, VA/Battlefield) and the Hollins defense pitched a shut out. Norkus record a save on the only Peace shot that the defense allowed to find the net. Hollins will stay the night in North Carolina and play Greensboro College tomorrow. Hollins will look to start the season 2-0 when they kick off at 1:00. |
