Emory, VA - Hollins University Swimming at Emory & Henry College, January 21, 2012 The Hollins swim team was back in the pool against ODAC competition on Saturday afternoon. Hollins traveled to Emory & Henry to swim against the Wasps. Hollins won six events (including a one, two, three finish in the 800 Freestyle) en route to a 136-72 victory. The relay team of Geordan West (Monument, CO), Ashley Gao (Pearland, TX), Chastity Poole (Edinburg, VA), and Calisto Thompson (Minneapolis, MN) kicked off the meet with a win in the 400 Medley Relay. Maggie Dwyer (Norwich, VT) racked up two more individual wins by taking the 200 Freestyle and the 100 Butterfly. In the 800 Freestyle Hollins swept the podium with a 1-2-3 finish by Kara Berman (Chapel Hill, NC), Kaiya Martin (Roanoke, VA), and Grace Iaquinto (Huntington, WV). Junior Sage Otto (Hampton, VA) won the 100 Freestyle and then teamed with Gao, Dwyer, and Audrey James (Fremont, CA) to pick up first place points in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Hollins will compete on the road once again when they travel to Greensboro, NC on January 27th. Hollins will compete in a tri-meet with Guilford and Greensboro College. |
