Hollins Splits a Pair on the Road

Greensboro, NC - Hollins University Swimming at Greensboro College and Guilford College, January 18, 2013

The Hollins University swim team traveled south to North Carolina to face Greensboro and Guilford in a tri-meet on Friday night.  Hollins took a meet against the Pride earlier in the season when they best Greensboro by a single point.  It was the first of two back to back meets with their ODAC rival Guilford College.  Hollins bested the Quakers by the score of 65-29 but couldn't complete the sweep by falling to Greensboro 33-62.

Hollins won two and came in second in eight of the 11 events during the meet.  Meg O'Brien (Chattanooga, TN) picked up Hollins first win of the night when she came home first in the 200 Freestyle. Later in the meet O'Brien added second place points in the 100 Butterfly.  Claire Webber (Blauvelt, NY) gave Hollins first place points in the 100 Breaststroke while coming home second in the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Backstroke.  Sage Otto (Hampton, VA) added to the strong Hollins showing by recording second place finishes in the 50 Freestyle, the 100 Freestyle, and the 500 Freestyle.

Hollins will be in their home pool for the final time tomorrow afternoon when they host a tri-meet with Guilford and Ferrum College.
