Tri-Meet Sees Hollins Best Quakers

Greensboro, NC - Hollins University Swimming vs. Greensboro College and Guilford College, January 24, 2014


In their final road trip of the regular season, the Hollins swim team traveled to North Carolina for a tri-meet with Greensboro College and Guilford College.  Hollins picked up a split, falling to the Monarchs but besting their ODAC rivals from Guilford.

Hollins opened the meet by finishing runner up in the 200 Medley Relay.  The four swimmer team of Amanda Young (Henrico, VA), Sam Vats (Herndon, VA), Grace Iaquinto (Huntington, WV), and Michelle Douglas (Chesapeake, VA) brought home second place points. 

Meg O'Brien (Chattanooga, TN) finished second in the 200 Freestyle before securing third place points in the 100 Backstroke.  Lauren Chin (Montego Bay, Jamaica) recorded a a third in the 200 Individual Medley while fellow first-year Hayley Caulfeild-James (Willow Street, PA) added a pair of second place finishes.  Caulfeild-James tallied second place points in both the 100 Butterfly and the 500 Freestyle.

In the meets final event, Douglas, Chin, O'Brien, and Rachel Hertzler (Toano, VA) finished runner-up in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

Hollins will close out the regular season tomorrow afternoon at home when they host Guilford College.  The meet with the Quakers will start at 1:00pm.
