Hollins Competes at ODAC Relays

Lexington, VA - Hollins University Swimming at ODAC Relays hosted by Washington and Lee, October 19, 2013

Saturday marked the first time this young season that all of the ODAC competed in the same pool.  Washington and Lee hosted the ODAC Relays in Lexington, a 10 event meet that featured all nine competing women's swimming schools.  The next time that the entire conference will compete in the same pool will be the season ending ODAC Swim Championships in early February.

Hollins finished seventh out of nine schools, just 18 points behind ODAC rival Sweet Briar College.  During the meet, Hollins earned top 10's in three different event.

Haley Caulfeild-James (Willow Street, PA), Claire Webber (Blauvelt, NY), and Meg O'Brien (Chattanooga, TN) finished ninth in the 150 Butterfly Relay, the first event of the meet.  During the relay, Caulfeild-James broke the Hollins varsity record in her 50 yard leg.  Haley came back later in the day to team with O'Brien, Lauren Chin (Montego Bay, Jamaica), and Grace Iaquinto (Huntington, WV) to bring home eighth place points in the 100 yard Dolphin Kick Relay.  In the final event of the meet, the 200 Freestyle Relay, the Hollins team of Iaquinto, Ashley Gao (Pearland, TX), Michelle Douglas (Chesapeake, VA), and Rachel Hertzler (Toano, VA) captured Hollins final top 10 of the day when they came in 8th.
