Hollins In The Pool At Yellow Jacket Invitational

Roanoke, VA - Hollins University Swimming at Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College, December 7, 2013

The Hollins swim team got back into the pool after having more than two weeks off.  Hollins traveled to Chesterfield, VA to compete in the 13 team Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College.

Hollins set 32 lifetime bests during the two day, three session event that featured hundreds of the regions best swimmers.  It was a solid showing for a Hollins team that won't be back in action until after the holidays.

Hayley Caulfeild-James (Willow Street, PA) posted Hollins best individual finish of the meet.  Caulfeild-James placed 14th in the 200 Butterfly after posting a time that was 11 seconds faster than her best time in that event.  Hayley came back later in the meet to post a lifetime best, by two seconds, in the 100 Butterfly.  Hollins other top 16 individual finish came when Meg O'Brien (Chattanooga, TN) dropped two seconds off her best ever time in the 200 Individual Medley.  O'Brien and Caulfeild-James teamed with Maggie Dwyer (Norwich, VT) and Lauren Chin (Montego, Bay, Jamaica) to post Hollins best finish of the meet, a 14th in the 800 Freestyle Relay.

After exams and a break to enjoy the holiday season, the Hollins swim team will return to action on Friday, January 10th.  Hollins will travel to Bridgewater College for an ODAC meet to kick off the new year.
