Hollins Can't Catch Wasps

Roanoke, VA - Hollins University Swimming vs Emory & Henry College, November 2, 2012

For the third time in a week, the Hollins swim team took to the pool looking for their fourth victory in the past seven days.  A weary Hollins squad played host to Emory & Henry in search of their first ODAC victory of the young season.  Hollins brought a three meet win streak into their matchup against the Wasps.

Hollins came home with numerous top three finishes but picked up first place points in just one of the 14 events and fell to their visitors 156-99.

First-year swimmer Claire Webber (Blauvelt, NY) picked up the lone Hollins win by taking first in the 200 Breaststroke.  Webber added a pair of third place finishes in the 100 Butterfly and the 200 Individual Medley.  Maggie Dwyer (Norwich, VT) picked up second place points in the 1000 Freestyle, the 200 Butterfly, and the 500 Freestyle.  Webber and Dwyer teamed with Audrey James (Fremont, CA) and Sage Otto (Hampton, VA) to finish runner up in the 400 Freestyle Relay.  James finished second in the 100 Backstroke and 100 Freestyle while Otto added a third in the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke.

Hollins will have a week off before getting back in the pool against NCAA DII competition.  Hollins will host Davis & Elkins on Monday the 12th.  Their meet, in the Hollins pool, is scheduled for 5:00pm.
