Southeasts Best Compete at ITA Regionals |
Fredericksburg, VA - Hollins University Tennis at ITA Regionals hosted by Mary Washington University September 25, 2011 After opening the fall season with a successful weekend at Methodist, the Hollins University Tennis team traveled to Mary Washington to compete in the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament. The field featured more than 150 players from over 20 institutions. In Blue 2 Doubles the team of Shawnte Woodson (Waynesboro, VA) and Tina Kakadelis (Towson, MD) won three straight matches to reach the Final. In the final match the duo came up just short (5-8) to Megan FitzMaurice and Dana Sleeper of Franklin & Marshall. Victoria Coffee (Plano, TX) won the Consolation Draw of Blue 1 Singles. After losing her first match, Coffee rebounded to win three straight including an 8-2 win in the final. Caitlin Hoerr (Virginia Beach, VA) and Truby Siziba (Harara, Zimbabwe) rallied after losing a match to win the semifinal and final (8-4) en route to taking the Consolation Draw of Blue 3 Doubles. Hollins will look to complete a great fall when they compete in the ODAC Individual Championships. The tournament will be held on October 7th and 8th at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA. |
