Box Score

Hollins went on the road searching for their second ODAC win in the past three matches when they traveled to Eastern Mennonite on Tuesday night.  The night didn't start the way that Hollins wanted as the home standing Royals raced out to an easy opening set win, 17-25.  In the second set, Hollins found their legs and was able to pull away at the end en route to tying the match.  After a short break the two teams came back to the court but it was Hollins that dominated the action the rest of the way.  The visitors outscored EMU 50-28 and picked up their third conference win of the season.

Despite losing the kill battle, Hollins was able to force 31 Royal errors and recorded 16 total blocks.  Mandi McDade (Eustis, FL/Eustis) led the offensive attack with eight kills.  McDade also added six digs and a block.  Jesse Deese (Cary, NC/Apex) led the team with 18 assists while Morgan Russell (Peoria, AZ/Liberty) led with 17 digs.  Briana Taborn (Creedmoor, NC/South Granville), Ally Reed (Sterling, VA/Dominion), and Lauren Hays (Saginaw, TX/Boswell) each tallied five kills.

Tabitha Bowman led the Royals with 12 kills while setter Mattie Lehman handed out 26 assists.  Eastern Mennonite recorded 64 digs, 14 by Brittany Childress.

Hollins will look to build a win streak this weekend as they step out of conference for a tri-match with Peace and Southern Virginia.  The matches will take place on Saturday on the campus of Southern Virginia University.
