The Hollins University Volleyball Team seems to be enjoying their home court as they won for the second time in less than 24 hours.  Ferrum was the opponent this morning as Hollins was looking to build on last night's sweep of Mary Baldwin.  Hollins jumped out to an early lead but the Panthers battled back to bring the match within a point late but Hollins dug in and prevailed 25-23.  Hollins again jumped out in set two and this time left no question cruising to a 25-15 win.  Set three saw a back and forth affair until Hollins, with the score tied at 23, rattled of two straight points to complete the sweep.

Hollins dominated the net by recording 35 kills and nine blocks.  First year net players Lauren Hays (Saginaw, TX/Boswell) and Mandi McDade (Eustis, FL/Eustis) combined for 13 kills and four blocks.  Not to be outdone, the three Hollins returners from a season ago also got into the act.  Briana Taborn (Creedmoor, NC/South Granville) added six kills, a solo block, and assisted on another.  Ally Reed (Sterling, VA/Dominion) added a team high eight kills to go with her 10 digs and two service aces.  Simone Mendez (Gardena, CA/St. Bernard) recorded seven kills, a solo block, and three assisted blocks.  Angie Moreno (Houston, TX/Elsik) came off the bench to hand out a game high 22 assists.

Kayla Trippeer led the Panthers with 11 kills.  Leah Quinones added 18 assists and four service aces while Bridget Atkinson led Ferrum with 10 digs.

Hollins will not have to wait long to try for three in a row as they host Mary Baldwin at 2:00pm today.
