M.A.L.S. Students and Graduates

Ken Dupin Ken Dupin, M.A.L.S. '06
"No single choice in the past 20 years has impacted my life more than the decision to participate in the graduate program at Hollins. The program gave me confidence in my own ability...the confidence to take risk beyond my capability."

Freelance journalist and mother of two

"The M.A.L.S. program at Hollins has been a perfect fit for my life as a mother of two young children, freelance journalist, and community volunteer. The program is versatile, thought provoking and will help me fulfill my future career plans. Although I graduated from the University of North Carolina's School of Journalism, the Hollins experience is helping broaden my knowledge in other areas of study. While I'm on the "Mommy track," I've decided the "M.A.L.S. track" is a perfect combination for my life. I encourage others to take advantage of this outstanding program."

Malik Shareef, M.A.L.S. '03

"I earned my undergraduate degree from a large research university. I never had small classes or the opportunity to build close, personal relationships with my professors until I entered the Hollins M.A.L.S. program. The stimulating environment, in addition to rigorous graduate classes and plenty of writing, has really prepared me for the demands of law school. The Hollins program has been a real asset in my educational journey."

Lucy Lee

Lucy Lee, M.A.L.S. '85, C.A.S. '03

"For 25 years, Hollins has been a source of stimulation and community for me. No matter what my focus — raising children, working outside the home, volunteering in the community — Hollins enriched my life and that of my family. I'd like to think it is no coincidence that our daughters have advanced degrees and pursue lifetime learning. As my CPA husband says, 'Hollins provides an excellent return on investment.'"

Lynn Genheimer

Lynn Genheimer, M.A.L.S. '04

"The M.A.L.S. program is a wonderful experience for the empty nester. With more free hours, there is time to explore new areas and open doors to new opportunities. My interests have changed since my undergraduate days. I'm very glad I took the opportunity to explore new fields. Having a B.S. in biology and now working on a master's, I have developed a keen interest in neuropsychology. I would like to use this new knowledge to help counsel individuals who suffer from disorders such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome."

Charles Sweetenberg

Charles Sweetenberg, M.A.L.S. '04

"Attending graduate school at Hollins University has been an enlightening and refreshing learning experience. Hollins' faculty and administrators are readily available for one-on-one consultation whenever needed. Attending class with other professionals from various career paths has enhanced and heightened the learning experiences of everyone in the program."

Katherine Devine

Katherine Devine, M.A.L.S. '04

"My experiences in the M.A.L.S. program at Hollins have enriched my life personally, artistically, and professionally. Most importantly, Hollins has helped me discover new strengths while renewing my confidence in my own abilities."
