In 1992, Cracker Barrel cook Cheryl Summerville received a pink slip for “failing to demonstrate normal heterosexual values.” She was shocked to discover that this type of dismissal was legal in more than 40 American states. OUT chronicles  three stories of people who have sought workplace safety, job security and benefits for gay and lesbian workers.
