Roanoke, Va. – Hollins University is among 25 colleges and universities across the Commonwealth taking part in Virginia Private College Week, July 25 – 30. The program includes campus tours and information sessions about admissions, financial aid, and academic programs. College officials will also address some common myths about the cost of a private college education.
Sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV), the annual event gives rising high school juniors and seniors and their families an alternative to squeezing in campus visits during the hectic academic year. In addition, students who visit at least three of the participating colleges during the week will receive application fee waivers for any three CICV colleges of their choice.
“Visiting campuses in person is one of the most important steps in the college search process,” explains Robert Lambeth, president of CICV. “I encourage parents to explore which college will be the best fit for their child, and I want to reassure them a quality education at a Virginia private college is affordable and within reach.”
Hollins will host daily Open House programs for prospective students and their families. Sessions will be offered at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday – Friday, July 25 – 29, and 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 30. Registration is not required, but contacting the Hollins admissions office prior to visiting is encouraged. For more information, call (540) 362-6401 or 1-800-456-9595, or visit
