Hollins Theatre presents Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5: The Musical, direct from Broadway and based on the 1980 hit film, on April 12-13 and 17-20 at 7:30 p.m. and April 14 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 general public and free to current Hollins students, faculty, and staff.
9 to 5: The Musical features a high-energy score by the seven-time Grammy Award-winner and tells the story of three female co-workers who are pushed to the boiling point by their boss, a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot. To get even with him, they concoct a plan to take control of their company, and in the process learn there is nothing they can’t do – even in a man’s world.
Set in the 1970s, 9 to 5: The Musical is a hilarious look at friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. Outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic, the show is about teaming up and taking care of business.
