Hollins University is among the 24 colleges and universities across the commonwealth taking part in Virginia Private College Week, July 29 – August 3. The program includes campus tours and information sessions about admissions, financial aid, and academic programs. College officials will also address some common myths about the cost of a private college education.
Sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV), the annual event gives rising high school juniors and seniors and their families an alternative to squeezing in campus visits during the hectic academic year. Students who visit at least three institutions during the week will receive three application fee waivers. Students may use these waivers to apply to any three participating CICV colleges for free.
“Visiting campuses in person is one of the most important steps in the college search process,” explains Robert Lambeth, president of CICV. “I encourage parents to explore which college will be the best fit for their son or daughter, and I want to reassure them a quality education at a Virginia private college is affordable and within reach.”
Hollins will host daily Open House programs for prospective students and their families. Sessions will be offered at 9 a.m.and 2 p.m., Monday – Friday, July 29 – August 2, and 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 3. Registration is not required, but contacting the Hollins admission office at 800-456-9595 prior to visiting is encouraged. For more information, visit www.vaprivatecolleges.org.
