Mary Davis Holt, co-author of the new book, Break Your Own Rules: How to Change the Patterns of Thinking that Block Women’s Path to Power, will speak at Hollins University’s Niederer Auditorium, located in the Richard Wetherill Visual Arts Center, on Wednesday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
Holt, partner with Flynn Heath Holt Leadership, is an executive coach and expert on business, women, and leadership. She previously held executive positions at Time Warner with oversight that ranged from finance to information technology, marketing, human resources, manufacturing, and distribution. Among her many career highlights, she led the management of worldwide manufacturing distribution of all Time Inc.’s magazines, including Time, Fortune, People, and Sports Illustrated. She also served as president of Time Life Books and Time Life Kids.
Holt wrote Break Your Own Rules with her partners Jill Flynn and Kathryn Heath. The book distills the six faulty assumptions (or “rules”) most women follow that get in the way of achieving their full potential—then delivers the correlating new rules that promise to clear that path all the way to the executive boardroom. It features the results of over 1,700 interviews with executives in Fortune 1000 companies, as well as the authors’ new research and ongoing work with over 5,000 professional women.
A book signing will follow Holt’s talk. For more information, call (540) 362-6451.
