Karen Osborn ’79 shared the gold medal in the Independent Publisher Book Awards’ Popular Fiction category for her novel, “Centerville,” while Shelby Smoak M.A. ’99 received the gold in the Autobiography/Memoir III (Personal Struggle/Health Issues) category for “Bleeder: A Memoir.”

Dan A.R. Kelly, who is pursuing his MFA in screenwriting and film studies at Hollins, co-wrote and produced “Susie’s Hope,” which debuts this month at one of the premier film festivals in the southeastern United States.
