Screenwriters/scholars Hal Ackerman and Tim Albaugh have created an annual award for the student-written screenplay “that best exemplifies the joyous, courageous, independent spirit” of the founding director of Hollins’ graduate programs in screenwriting and film studies.

Tim Albaugh has taught in Hollins’ M.F.A. screenwriting program since 2007 and has taught screenwriting at UCLA, UC Irvine, Pixar Animation Studios, and Walt Disney Feature Animation.
