“Susie’s Hope” was written and produced by Dan A.R. Kelly, who received his MFA in screenwriting and film studies from Hollins this spring. The film will be shown on the cable and satellite television network UP on August 3 and made available nationwide on DVD August 12.
Dan A.R. Kelly, who is pursuing his MFA in screenwriting and film studies at Hollins, co-wrote and produced “Susie’s Hope,” which debuts this month at one of the premier film festivals in the southeastern United States.
Screenwriters/scholars Hal Ackerman and Tim Albaugh have created an annual award for the student-written screenplay “that best exemplifies the joyous, courageous, independent spirit” of the founding director of Hollins’ graduate programs in screenwriting and film studies.
Tim Albaugh has taught in Hollins’ M.F.A. screenwriting program since 2007 and has taught screenwriting at UCLA, UC Irvine, Pixar Animation Studios, and Walt Disney Feature Animation.
