The Franklin News-Post reports this year’s event raised about $2,200 to support the scholarship fund established in the memory of the Hollins student who died while studying abroad in 2009.

Screenwriters/scholars Hal Ackerman and Tim Albaugh have created an annual award for the student-written screenplay “that best exemplifies the joyous, courageous, independent spirit” of the founding director of Hollins’ graduate programs in screenwriting and film studies.
The Helen S. and Charles G. Patterson, Jr. Charitable Foundation Trust made the gift, which supports the restoration of Rath Haus, one of the university’s historic structures.
