Hollins University is ranked number ninety-five in Forbes magazine’s second-annual list of America’s best colleges.
The rankings are put together by Forbes and the Center for College Affordability and Productivity (CCAP). This year, six hundred undergraduate institutions were ranked based on educational quality and students’ experiences and achievements.
“To our way of thinking,” said CCAP Director Richard Vedder and “America’s Best Colleges” Co-Editor David M. Ewalt, “a good college is one that meets student needs. While some college rankings are based on the amount of money spent, we focus on things which directly concern incoming students: Will my courses be interesting and rewarding? Will I get a good job after I graduate? Is it likely I will graduate in four years? Will I incur a ton of debt getting my degree?”
The rankings are based on:
• Student evaluations of courses and instructors
• Post-graduate success
• Estimated average student debt after four years
• Four-year college graduation rates
• The number of students or faculty, adjusted for enrollment, who have won nationally competitive awards
