June Giving Challenge

Help Hollins Thrive! | $100,000 Challenge for June 2020

Students enjoying technology at the Library.

Thanks to our donors, the Hollins Fund finished the fiscal year strong with $3.71 million, against our $3.55 million fiscal year-end goal!

We also exceeded the two June challenge donor goals for the Hollins Fund. With a goal of 600 donors, our donors rose to the occasion and we received more than 850 gifts during the month of June. As a result, we secured a combined gift of $125,000 from our two generous and committed anonymous donors and they are thrilled with the results.

Thank you to everyone who made the June challenges a remarkable success, and for caring for Hollins and our students as we eagerly prepare for their return to campus in late August.

A special thank you to our volunteers who helped us by calling, emailing, texting and posting on social media. We are grateful for your assistance, your commitment, and for your enthusiastic and heartfelt response to the June challenges.

If you have any questions about volunteering for the Hollins Fund, feel free to contact the Director of the Hollins Fund Brea MacBrien (macbrienbm@hollins.edu) or Assistant Director of the Hollins Fund Syreeta Combs-Cannaday ’02 (combscannadaysr@hollins.edu).

The Help Hollins Thrive Challenge was exceeded!

Have you wondered how you can help Hollins at this very challenging time? We have good news and a wonderful chance for alumnae/i and friends to participate in a one-month, roll-up-your-sleeves opportunity.

An alumna, who wishes to remain anonymous, has asked herself that same question. She wants to help encourage and marshal the energy of Hollins alumnae and friends in a one-month challenge in June: if 500 donors make a gift of any size for the Hollins Fund by the end of June, she will give Hollins $100,000.

This alumna’s passion for our students, faculty and staff grows deeper as we persevere through circumstances no one could have predicted. Her belief and conviction is that if there is any time to help Hollins, it is right now.

When she learned about the response, another anonymous alumna donor contacted us and offered a $25,000 gift to Hollins if we extended the challenge to 600 donors before the end of June! This alumna reiterated the belief that there is no better time for us to show how much we care for Hollins and our students. Her hope is that alumnae/i will continue to understand that a gift of any size will make a difference to Hollins and our students.

So what can you do?

  • Think about what Hollins means to you and how you might give back
  • Make a gift to Hollins – of any size! Whether $18.42 or $100, any gift makes a difference.
  • Honor a classmate, a professor, or a friend
  • Spread the word to your classmates and friends and encourage them to participate, maybe for the first time

Give Now

Remember, all new gifts or second gifts of any size to the Hollins Fund by all donors in June will count toward this Challenge (excluding pledge payments).
