Ayeshia Watson ’27, Track & Field Team Honored for Academic Excellence Track & Field All Academic Team

Ayeshia Watson ’27 and the Hollins University women’s track and field team have respectively achieved All-Academic Athlete and All-Academic Team recognition from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2024 NCAA Division III season.

Watson, who competed as a jumper during her first year at Hollins, was cited for her performance on the track and in the classroom. She earned a 3.75 grade point average (GPA) while ranking 32nd in the nation with a distance of 11.71 meters in the triple jump. To qualify for All-Academic Athlete honors, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale through the most recently completed grading period, and must have finished the outdoor track and field season among the top 50 individuals listed in the Track and Field Results Reporting Service (TFRRS) database, which is responsible for tracking and compiling millions of performances each year.

The women’s track and field team registered a team GPA of 3.32 for the 2023-24 academic year. For a team to receive the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, it must have an average GPA of 3.1 or higher.
